As the weather gets more and more beautiful, thanks to the changing of seasons, we all understandably want to spend more time outside. One safe and healthy way to get kids to exercise and keep them occupied is to install playground equipment on your property. Many of us have fond memories of just this kind of thing.
However, owning playground equipment also brings with it a level of responsibility. Like a lot of things, playground equipment can be a safety hazard for kids if it’s not maintained. For example, as temperatures go from cold to warm, and vice versa, wood parts will contract and expand, which can cause other parts like nuts and bolts to loosen. Or, pinch points can be exposed that can hurt little fingers. If you spend a little time giving the playground equipment in your yard a safety inspection, you may find things to do that will keep your kids safe while they’re having fun.
