This time of year, most people are already a number of rounds into their lawnmowing cycle. And that’s for good reason – overgrown grass is not only an eyesore, but it can be a popular home for insects and vermin. Also, if it’s very overgrown, it can give the appearance that a property is vacant, which makes it more attractive to people with ill intent.
To get around the need to mow frequently, many people make the mistake of cutting their grass extremely short. This can be bad for several reasons, not least of all that it can cause your grass to die, which may look even worse than overgrown grass.
Really, the best way to keep your lawn healthy and attractive is to cut it to a good length regularly, give it fertilizer when appropriate, and keep it irrigated if rain or dew is in short supply. There aren’t really any shortcuts to proper lawn care.
