It’s that time of year! SUMMER! We all look forward to what summer brings. Warm weather, sunshine, outdoor time, and of course: grilling! Chances are, you’ve already begun using your grill this year. If so, congratulations! Whether you’re a grill master or not, we all should keep in mind a few pointers that will help to keep us safe while grilling.

  1. Keep your grill in a well-ventilated area. This is especially important if your grill uses charcoal, which gives off carbon monoxide.
  2. If you use a propane grill, make sure that all connections are tight. Watch out for cracks or leaks in hoses that are used for channeling the gas to the burners.
  3. Be sure to clean the grill regularly. Stuck-on food and grease are gross and can affect the taste of your food, but they can also be dangerous if left unchecked, since they can easily catch on fire when the grill is in use.
